Massage in a Bottle: frequently asked questions.
How often is massage recommended?
Once a month will see the benefits of your massage maintained. If you are particularly tense or new to massage and are committed to making a long-term improvement, we would recommend a follow up appointment after one week of the initial massage, then another appointment two weeks after that.
How should I prepare for my massage?
Try to plan your massage on a day when you have little else to do, or get all of your chores out of the way beforehand. Don’t worry about what underwear to wear, or whether or not you’ve shaved your legs. We are professionals and there’s nothing we haven’t already seen.
How should I prepare the house for a mobile massage booking?
All you need is warm room with enough space to fit an average sized sofa. If possible, try to keep the noise in the house to a minimum. If you have children, pets or other dependents, it would be a good idea to make sure they are occupied or cared for elsewhere during your massage to allow you to fully relax.
Do I need to provide the towels or any other equipment for a mobile massage booking?
No. The towels, oil and music are all provided.
What should I wear for a mobile massage booking?
Please feel free to answer the door in your dressing gown if this suits you. Some people like to avoid getting oil on their clothes. At the same time, it is just as easy to undress after we have everything set up, then get back into the same clothes afterwards.
Will I be able to undress discreetly?
Yes. You will have the room to yourself as you undress and get on the table. We will leave the room and prepare for your massage by washing our hands and will knock before we re-enter to make sure you’re ready for us. Our towel technique is very important and it ensures you are always fully covered during the treatment. When the massage has finished we will leave the room and allow you to redress in privacy.
Should I be worried about my weight being supported by the massage table?
No. Massage tables have a typical 500kg weight limit, so there is no need to worry.
Is it normal to chat during a massage?
It is important for us to understand your reasons for the massage, and we will chat to whatever level you feel at ease with as we introduce ourselves. Usually after the massage begins, things will naturally quieten down, particularly in the latter half. This allows for a deeper relaxation and healing to take place.
Can I have a massage while on my period?
Yes. If it makes you feel more comfortable you could let us know that you are menstruating, although it is not necessary. The massage might increase your blood flow, so if it is particularly heavy we can be mindful of your lower back region to ease your concerns.
Can I have a break during the massage?
Yes. Please ask to use the toilet at any time. Let us know if you need to adjust the face cradle or need extra cushioning for your chest, lower back or abdomen. Your comfort is our primary concern.
Will deep tissue massage hurt?
No. Techniques are used to gradually warm up the muscles prior to any deeper work to minimise discomfort. The experience should be pleasurable and communication is encouraged throughout the massage to make sure you are comfortable.
What is the aftercare advice for a massage?
Drink plenty of water and rest for the day. Avoid strenuous activity or stress. Be wary of sun exposure due to the oil on your skin. You should expect a wonderful night’s sleep.
How will I feel the following day?
Usually you will feel supple and relaxed with a greater range of motion in your body. Occasionally if you’ve been particularly stiff prior to the massage you may feel a little sore the following day. This should subside within a day or two to leave you to feel the benefits.
What types of payment do you accept?
We prefer bank transfers, but also accept cash or card payments (studio only).
What is the best way to rebook my massage?
It is a good idea to reschedule your next appointment after a massage, when you feel relaxed and calm and are reminded of how beneficial it is to your wellbeing. As women, we tend to put ourselves last. With something positive to look forward to during the month we can be assured we have self-care ticked off our list. By booking in advance you’re also able to choose the best time slot to fit your busy schedule.
